Brothers & Sisters, I am pleased to share with the membership the announcement of a partnership between the AFL-CIO Metal Trades Department and Bartlett Maritime to bring the shipyards back to Lorain, Ohio for the refurbishment and maintenance of US Navy submarines. This project also calls for a parts facility to be built in Lordstown, Ohio for refurbishment of equipment on US Navy Submarines. The proposed dry docks in Lorain are to be most technologically advanced dry docks in North America and will service Columbia Class submarines. Please see the attachment below regarding the project.
